Frequently asked questions

What is direct cremation?

A direct cremation is a simple cremation that takes place without a funeral service or attendance. Ashes are returned to you, and you can decide what to do next in your own time.

Can we attend the cremation?

No — this service is unattended. It’s designed to be simple and private, without the pressure of a ceremony.

How soon does the cremation take place?

Timings depend on paperwork, availability, and whether the Coroner is involved. We’ll explain the process clearly and keep you updated throughout.

What happens if the Coroner is involved?

If the Coroner is involved, some steps are handled differently and timings can change. We’ll guide you through what’s needed and explain everything clearly.

When will we receive the ashes?

After the cremation takes place, ashes are usually returned to you within around 2–4 weeks, and often sooner.
Once the ashes are returned to our care from the crematorium, we’ll contact you to arrange a suitable time for you to collect them, or for us to deliver them to you.

Can we have a memorial or gathering later?

Yes. Many families choose to hold a gathering later — privately, at home, or somewhere meaningful. There’s no right or wrong way.

What area do you cover?

We currently cover the North West of England. When you contact us, we’ll confirm collection arrangements and let you know what’s possible for your location.

How do we get started?

You can call us on 0161 531 9262 or use the contact form. We’ll explain everything clearly, with no obligation and no pressure.
